Minutes of December 14, 2006, Meeting

Meeting convened at 6:49pm.

Cost estimates to place a Cardinal and text in the center circle of the school gym floor and a Cardinal on the west wall of the school gym were reviewed. Cost of both items would be covered by a member donation and the Booster Club. Committee will recommend to Pastoral Council that both be approved.

Committee reviewed the maintenance items identified during our November walk-through of parish buildings.

The following items are recommended for consideration for inclusion in the fiscal year 2007/2008 budget by this committee.  

Church -

Paint is cracking and peeling in the southwest and northwest stairways to the church basement. Estimate repair costs at $ 3,000.00.

Explore options to provide soft water for the baptismal font system as hard water is causing excessive wear to regulator valve and heating element, may need to install a water softener for this system. This item is in the 2006/2007 budget, however not completed, if not done this fiscal year, recommend for inclusion in the 2007/2008 fiscal year, estimate cost of $ 1,000.00 for water softener.

Should install an emergency light in the basement kitchen. Estimate cost at $ 200.00.

Need to install a chemical injection softener system for the boiler to increase the life span of the boiler. Will obtain cost estimate.

The Limestone facing around the older church entrances, particularly the west entrance is deteriorating and needs to be patched and sealed. Estimate cost at $ 1,000.00 for supplies and labor to do west entrance and re-seal other old entrances, ourselves.

Sacred Heart School-

The freeze stats and dampner motors in one main floor school classroom should be replaced. Estimate cost at $ 700.0 0 to do one classroom in 2007-08.

New ballasts could be installed in the main floor school classrooms to save energy and provide safer lighting.   Need to obtain further information on costs and potential energy savings before finalizing this recommendation.

The floor carpeting will be replaced in one school classroom, based on room most in need. Estimate cost at $1700.00.

The tile surfaces in the kindergarten bathrooms are showing wear and peeling paint, will need to re-paint and seal. Estimate costs at $ 500.00.

Need to paint the two basketball standards in the school playground. Estimate cost at $100.00.

Parish Center-

Fascia on the overhang on the east side of the Center between the first and second floor.   The estimated cost, which is in this year’s budget, is $620.   Recommend it for 2007-08 at an estimated cost of $650.

May need to replace expansion water tank. Urgency and cost to be determined.

Parish Rectory-

South facing door and trim need to be painted.   Need to obtain cost estimate.

Bathroom counter top could be replaced, this may be donated by a parish member.

Deck boards need to be re-sealed. Estimate cost of supplies at $ 250.00.

Landscaping-

Need to remove shrubs on the north side of the church located right next to electrical station. Plan to do this with volunteers.

The following items should be considered in next 2 to 3 years:

Church-

Landscaping of some type to replace grass that does not grow well next south side of church walls, due to hot, dry conditions.

Sacred Heart School-

Replace freeze stats and dampner motors in one or two more main floor classrooms.

Continue to replace carpeting in one school classroom each year.

Parish Center-

May need to replace expansion water tank if not required in 2007-08.

Garage door may need to be replaced.

Parish lawn mower is getting old and may need replacement
