Building & Grounds CommitteeThe Building Committee meets several times a year to oversee the maintenance of our buildings and grounds. This committee also reports to the Parish Finance Council and the Parish Pastoral Council to provide insight and guidance for planning and budgeting purposes. SACRED HEART CHURCH BUILDING & GROUNDS COMMITTEEMinutes of March 27, 2008, Meeting Members Present: Kyle Alexander, Jim Daniel, Roger Blumreich, Jake Yeager Parish Custodian: Donald Placzkowski Business Administrator: Penny Demerath Meeting convened at 6:48pm. Minutes of the February 21, 2008, meeting were reviewed and accepted. Penny indicated the Parish Finance Council has not yet finalized the fiscal year 2008-2009 parish budget, nor the approved maintenance items for this coming fiscal year. However, the Finance council has indicated two of the maintenance items Building & Grounds had recommended for inclusion in next years budget have been removed. The Parish Center main level carpeting replacement and the landscaping along the south wall of the church will not be included for next year’s budget. A couple other items recommended for next years maintenance list are under review as well. Penny reported that Lincoln Public School is discussing with our Sacred Heart School the possibility of renting some space at Sacred Heart next year due to over crowding at Lincoln. This committee supports this idea. Donald and Penny reported that leaks in the cooling system have been found in the past week, for one freezer and the cooler in the basement kitchen, short term repair has been done. Cost estimates are being secured to replace the cooling system compressors and also any associated electrical or plumbing work that might be needed. Plans would be to do this work after school is out this summer. This could be a significant expenditure. Donald reported three volunteer groups have offered to work together to help Sacred Heart with any projects they could help with the first Saturday of this coming May. Committee discussed possible items including, painting basketball standards, painting safety strips on steps outside the church, pruning bushes, cleaning rectory decking, washing outer brick walls of the school were mold has grown. The groups volunteering are Catholic Order of Foresters, Catholic Knights, and a local 4-H club, possibly our parish youth group as well. Meeting adjourned 7:27pm, next meeting scheduled April 17, 2008, Parish Center, 6:45pm. Respectfully submitted, Kyle Alexander
