Building & Grounds CommitteeThe Building Committee meets several times a year to oversee the maintenance of our buildings and grounds. This committee also reports to the Parish Finance Council and the Parish Pastoral Council to provide insight and guidance for planning and budgeting purposes. Meeting convened at 6:49 pm.
Committee reviewed the minutes of our September 21, 2006, meeting.
Donald Placzkowski indicated the boiler in the church basement will be re-calibrated, soon, now that we have cooler weather, otherwise is working fine. The printer felt rolls we have were used to cover the new school gym floor for the annual parish fall rummage sale and worked very well to keep the floor clean and protected. An actuator valve in the Parish Center heating system had to be replaced this past month and repairs were done on a circulating pump for the Parish Center furnace, as well. A new heating element needed to be installed in the water line for the baptismal font. Randy Lorge has volunteered to take a water sample from a line near the baptismal font and have testing done to determine hardness of the water. This information will guide further decisions to reduce problems with the baptismal font and the water circulation system for the font. Kyle will follow-up with Randy on this. This fall or next spring we will paint bright colored stripes on any steps leading into our buildings to improve safety for people entering. Some ideas were discussed to re-do the landscaping around the carport entrance and the coaches door, possibly sometime next year. We will continue these discussions for the next fiscal years maintenance plans. The booster heater and tank under the dishwasher in the parish basement kitchen will be replaced soon. Zachow Plumbing has been engaged to do this work, cost is about $1,700.00. Don Placzkowski and Jim Daniel will work on plugging the holes in the parking lot surface from the tent stakes used for the tents at the Parish Picnic. Plan to use sand. Meeting adjourned 7:29pm., next committee meeting, scheduled, November 16, 2006, 6:00pm, Parish Center. At our November meeting we will do our annual walk thru of all parish buildings to develop the list of maintenance recommendations for the next fiscal years budget. Don Placzkowski mentioned we need to consider repairs to the lawn mower, replacement of the expansion tank in the parish center, and re-wiring of sockets in the church ceiling lights, for next fiscal budget.
