Building & Grounds CommitteeThe Building Committee meets several times a year
to oversee the maintenance of our buildings and grounds. This committee also
reports to the Parish Finance Council and the Parish Pastoral Council to provide
insight and guidance for planning and budgeting purposes. Sacred Heart Church Building & Grounds CommitteeMinutes of September 15, 2005, Meeting, Parish Center Members Present: Randy Lorge, Herb Tauchen, Kyle Alexander, Tim Roe Business Administrator: Penny Demerath Parish Custodian: Donald Placzkowski Meeting convened at 6:48pm. The committee welcomed new member Tim Roe, a new member of our parish. Penny Demerath circulated new information for the bid of Heiman Builders for the garage roof work. The new information added $ 458.00 to the previous Heiman bid bringing the new total to $ 7,311.02. The new information includes a white rubber roof over the parish north door entrance instead of black, a vent in the gable east end of the new garage roof for better air circulation, 30 year shingles, and new fascia for the garage roof. Heiman Builders could complete the new garage roof and flat roof area over the north parish center entrance yet this fall. The Jody Marcks bid could not complete the project until spring 2006. Herb Tauchen moved and Randy Lorge seconded, that the committee should accept the bid of Heiman Builders and go ahead with this project, as soon as possible, this fall. Motion passed. Herb and Randy will ask the Pastorial Council, at tonight’s meeting to approve going ahead with this project even though the cost is slightly over the $ 7,000.00 approved by the Council earlier. The repair of the flat roof area over the north school entrance has been completed by Schwartz Company. Penny has contacted Schwartz to check on a couple final details before we consider this work completed. Braatz Welding is working on making the railings for the new southeast parish center entrance steps. We may need to wait until next spring to do the landscaping project around the parish center walls to allow the soil to settle in the area of the new steps, especially. Penny will check with Father Len to get his thoughts about this project. Don Placzkowski reported an emergency repair had to be done recently on the fan for the hood ventilator over the kitchen stove area in the church basement. A shaft and two bearings had to be replaced, this equipment is quite old. Tim Roe suggested a type of cap could be used to seal the holes drilled in the parking lot surface for the tent stakes for the parish festival tents, Penny will check into this further.
