SACRED HEART PARISH Sacred Heart Center, Upper Level Board of Total Catholic Education Meeting Minutes Thursday, April 19, 2007 Present: Mark Fuller, Penny Demerath, Lois Maczuzak, Sr. Gemma, Fred Ponschok, Denise Stueck, Becky Dillenberg, Amy Koeller, Alex Schreiner, Brenda Onesti, Father Len Excused: Nancy Schauer, Ron Henn, Correen Lewis, Tom Berg Meeting was called to order by Fuller at 6 pm. Opening Prayer was held. Approval of Agenda: Schreiner motioned, Ponschok seconded, motion carried. Approval of Minutes: Ponschok motioned, Schreiner seconded, motioned carried. Approval of school budget: 4 th child will pay $100 and automatically qualify for tuition assistance for the remaining $1175. Approval of FF budget: tuition increase as stated in Feb minutes. Onesti motioned, Dillenberg seconded, motion carried to approve budgets. Approval of Financial Statements—FF and School: Ponschok motioned, Stueck seconded, motion carried. Informational Reports: School Administrator: Lois and Mark met with 3 families as stated they would in the letter sent in January. Good response over all from meetings. Only 2 families have done nothing/not responded at all. Two paid in full. Youth Dance—May 18 th from 6-9pm, will invite area parishes. Planning to have 1 Chaperone per eight students. DJ/Band services will be donated. Half of gym floor will be laid with felt other half will be for dancing. Lois talked with the principal at St. Rose in Clintonville about enrollment/inviting 5 th grade students to enroll at SHCS for next year. Lois will send letters to the five 5 th graders. DRE: RCIA completed. First Communion banners are done and will be displayed in church. HS FF and Middle school have one more class. May Crowing is planned for May 2 for elementary students. Inservice for teachers is planned for May 9 th. Confirmation classes have begun. Board Committees: Development committee: Has met twice since last board meeting. Developed a activity proposal/approval form to ensure activities are planned properly. Form distributed to board members. Couples bible study planned, starting this Sunday. Planning the Jitterbug Dance/Open Swing Dance at the Fox Ballroom in Cecil for ages 16 and up. Cost will be $8 and includes snacks, from 7:30-11pm. Also, planning the Bay Area Med Ctr Menominee River Bike Ride in June 24 th. Old Business: Discussed new policy #3075 on Expenditures. Will need to consult with the GB Diocese about this issue, particularly if the church business administrator should be managing the “books”/checking account for home and school and the booster club. New Business: Pete Warmenhoven reported on behalf of the finance council. Finance Council met with Fr. Dave from St. Anthony’s to discuss subsidies. They are taking matters seriously and taking steps to ensure payment. Working on putting a policy in place to ensure families are registered with parish and in good standing/active members of the parish. Because of time constraints there was a brief discussion to consider changing the day BTCE meets to a different Thursday of the month. Meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm. Next Meeting May 17 th at 6 pm.
