Sacred Heart Parish Board of Total Catholic Education SACRED HEART PARISH Meeting MinutesAugust 9, 2006 Meeting was called to order by Mark Fuller at 6 p.m. In attendance: Father Len, Mark Fuller, Mary Ellen Waldvogel, Lois Maczuzak, Penny Demerath, Denise Stueck, Brenda Onesti, Nancy Schauer, Alex Schreiner, Ron Henn, Correen Lewis, Becky Dillenberg Excused : Fred Ponschok and Tom Berg Introductions : Each member introduced themselves and shared a highlight of their summer. Opening Prayer : Led by Mark Fuller “July Parish Meeting Prayer” was performed. Approval of Agenda : Schauer moved, Schreiner seconded to approve agenda. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes of June 2006 : Stueck moved, Dillenberg seconded to approve minutes. Motion carried. Approval of Financial Statements —Faith Formation and School. Schauer moved to approve financial statements, Henn seconded. Motion carried. Parish mission statement, purpose of school board and policy #8005 Sacred Heart BTCE Constitution were reviewed. Old Business: Board officers were finalized for the coming year. Vice-president position had not yet been confirmed. Schauer motioned to nominate Alex Schriener for vice chair. Dillenberg seconded. Motioned carried. Board member positions were reviewed. All board positions are full. Representative from St. Michaels is Correen Lewis. Lois will contact Mark Schultz to determine if he will continue as representative from St. Martins. Representative from St. Anthonys remains vacant. Mary Ellen reported that Vicki Hoffman has accepted the Faith Formation Elementary Education position and Faith Formation secretary. Vicki has recently completed Basic RE Certification. Middle School Coordinator position has not yet been filled. Two candidates were interviewed. One candidate was offer the position but declined for personal reasons. Mary Ellen is concerned that with the current job description there is need for only a part-time position and not a full-time position as budgeted for. It was suggested to add the preschool program and the adult education program to the Middle School Coordinator job description. Mary Ellen will consider this and/or other responsibilities to add to job description. If needed, Mary Ellen will contact Personnel Committee to discuss this further. New Business Reviewed board committees and members/chairs of each committee. Need to finalize committee members for this year. Lengthy discussion concerning Budget Committee. Needs to have more active role in assisting administrators in determining needs of programs. Particularly, curriculum needs were discussed. Lois reported on upcoming 125th Anniversary of school. There will be a “walk in the park” at Mielke Theater on Saturday, October 14 th. High school students will be performing live music. Student artwork will be on display (Lois has asked Mary Ellen to have Faith Formation/RE students submit artwork as well). Volunteers are needed for greeting and directing flow of attendees. The Bishop is coming Sunday, Oct 29 th to celebrate the 125th anniversary. Plans/events for this day have not yet been finalized (need to ensure that entire parish is included in celebration). Other Business : Correen Lewis proposed that SH should have a parish youth dance. Will discuss this further after evaluation of youth dance planned for Friday evening, August 11, during parish festival weekend. Closing Prayer: Hail Mary.
