SACRED HEART PARISH Board of Total Catholic Education Meeting Minutes Thursday, June 21, 2007 Present: Mark Fuller, Lois Maczuzak, Sr. Gemma, Fred Ponschok, Denise Stueck, Brenda Onesti, Ron Henn Excused: Nancy Schauer, Alex Schreiner, Correen Lewis, Father Len, Becky Dillenberg, Amy Koeller, Tom Berg, Penny Demerath Meeting was called to order by Fuller at 5:30 pm. Opening Prayer was held. Approval of Agenda: Ponschok motioned, Henn seconded, motion carried. Approval of Minutes: Ponschok motioned, Onesti seconded, motioned carried with addition of Confirmation students “are getting update on Life of Jesus, also”. Scrap booking June “2”. Jitter bug dance “was scheduled”. BOTCE Elections: Tabled until August meeting. Approval of Financial Statements—RE and School: Henn motioned, Ponschok seconded, motion carried. Mr. Clasen chose to freeze his salary and budget what the increase would be to go towards the band program. No phy ed teacher next year, hoping to get grant money to pay for salary. Estimate $5000 needed to pay salary. Sr Gemma has been contacting by phone and home visits a few parents who have not paid yet. Old Business: Enrollment projected at 124. Several laptops will be donated to the school. Update on SHCS Alumni Foundation and event on May 26 th. Over 144 attended, approximately 11,500 profit and donations continue to come in. New Business: none. Other Business: none. Informational Reports: School Administrator: At this time all teachers will be returning. However, did get a request for a reference of one teacher. Looking into getting donations through a website, Lois will research website before participating. Lois and Don are looking into getting a bell for the lobby doors of the school. DRE: Vicki working with VBS this week. Although Vicki had discussed bus transportation with schools and bus company, the bus company did not bring 7 students to VBS. Amy is attending REALITY check this week. Sr. Gemma started Catholicism Today, 10 people attended. Sr. Gemma is taking an XP beginner computer class. Sr. Gemma went to GB Diocese’s office to get info on Safe Touch and church history. Faith formation changes will be presented at the August meeting. Athletic Committee: Tom Berg will be Athletic Director, Pete Maczuzak will assist him. Board Committees: Budget: No report. Policy: need to look into developing Safety Policy. Development: 8 couples attended couples bible study. Scrap Booking was on June 2 with 5 in attendance, planning to have several Friday nite scrap booking events in the fall. In August, Sr. Gemma will have a meeting to inservice people on how to lead small groups. Technology: Technology 5 year plan is complete and has been submitted to the Federal Government. This determines the E-rate. Activities: Jr. High Dance was a success. Mark Schulz planned this dance (chaperones, safety, band, decorations) and did a great job. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 pm.
