Preliminary Meeting Minutes
In Attendance: Denise Stueck, Fred Ponschok, Sue Hennigan, Penny Demerath, Lois Maczuzak, Tom Berg, Becky Dillenburg, Ron Henn, Mark Schultz, Paul Brulla, Mary Ellen Waldvogel, Cindy Swiecichowski, Linda Meisner
Opening Prayer: May Parish Prayer.
Approval of Agenda: Agenda approved with no additions.
Approval of Minutes/Financial statements: Both the April meeting minutes and financial statements were approved as submitted.
Correspondence: Thank you note was received from Kara for gift in recognition of "Administrative Assistance Day" for the secretarial duties she performs for the Board of Total Catholic Education.
Old Business: Motion was made by Cindy and second made by Fred to accept the revisions made to policy #5075. Changes to policy # 5105 were tabled until we receive the new policy from the diocese.
Board self evaluations were collected. Results will be presented at the June meeting.
New Business:
A. Policy #8005 - The Constitution was reviewed, no suggestions for any changes were received.
B. Appreciation was acknowledged to Board Members Sue and Cindy whose terms will be expiring in June. Tom's term also expires in June, however, he has agreed to extend his term.
C. Denise is looking for help in conducting an in-service for new member, Alex Schreiner. We are also in need of one more candidate to complete the number of board members.
Informational Reports:
A. Pastoral office - No report
B. Home and School Association - Monies received from the Catholic Foresters was used to purchase books for the library. For students in the Accelerated Reader program, they are considering buying incentives such as CD players, movie tickets, etc. with monies received from Pick & Save. An extra fund-raiser is being considered to raise monies to purchase the tire chips for the playground rather than the currently used wood chips. The tire chips cost approximately $13,000. Nancy Schauer is checking on the possibility of receiving wood chips from SMU. The calendar raffle will be run by the Parish budget rather than from the Home & School budget.
C. Finance Council - Financially doing okay, breaking even.
D. Mary Ellen - Meeting is set for May 24 to discuss catechist recruitment for the 2005 - 2006 year. The final 2005-2006 Religious Education calendar will not be available to complete until next fall due to events that still in the planning stages. The "Blessed & Broken" Mission will be coming to Sacred Heart on September 25 - 28 presenting our parish with a different view on spirituality.
E. School Administrator - Computers have been ordered. Deacon Tom spoke to the 4th grade class and was very well received. Deacon Tom stated that any time we would like him to talk with the students, he would be more than happy to do so. Election of the new student council members will be held tomorrow. Three interviews for the eighth grade staff position have been completed; two more are scheduled.
F. Pastoral Council - See minutes.
G. Green Bay Diocesan Board Minutes - No report.
H. Athletic Committee - Still need parent(s) to step forward to assume the Athletic Director position.
I. Committee reports - Nothing new reported.
Announcements: Next meeting will be our annual picnic potluck to be held on Thursday, June 16 at 5:00 p.m. at the Center. Please note the time change.
