Opening Prayer: Our Father
Introduction of Guests: Mark Schulz, Beth McFarlane
Additions to Agenda: None
Approval of Minutes/Financial Statements: Minutes and financial statements were approved.
Correspondence: Fred presented a letter from Catholic Central in Appleton with information on enforcement of uniform use in their school and the positive aspects of uniforms in schools. To date he did not have any information regarding costs of uniforms. Refer to Home and School Association under Informational reports for further discussion of the dress code.
Open Forum: Mark Schulz is attending as the representative from St. Martin's Parish in Cecil. Mark has children attending Sacred Heart School and is active in his parish and in the community. Beth McFarlane is here representing Sacred Heart Home and School Association.
Old Business: Denise expressed her gratitude for those board members who helped with soliciting advertisers for the raffle calendar. Discussion was held regarding the status of Parish and Board involvement with Total Catholic Education. It was agreed that as a Board we could become more involved in increasing Parish involvement in Generations of Faith. The Development Committee will meet to discuss ways to increase interest.
New Business: Policies 3005, 3015 and revised 3025 were reviewed and discussed. The starred section regarding parish members is to be removed from each of these policies. The revisions to 3025, which are clarifications within the policy, were discussed. A copy of each of these revised policies will be posted in the school and parish entrances for parish members to review. We will vote to approve these policies at our December meeting. Parish council will also be advised of the changes made to the policies.
The Diocese is holding a Board In-service on Nov. 30, 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. at the Diocesan Office Complex. The in-service will include stats from schools, possible new policies, and discussion on evaluations and contracts. Anyone that is interested in attending, please contact Denise.
Budget needs were discussed. A few increases that are desired include salary increase, insurance, and a new science series. Tuition increase will be discussed at the December meeting.
Lois reports that two books about Bart Starr were found in the school library. One book had been signed. Both books were sent to him and he returned both books signed along with letters of authenticity. We also have a signed Vince Lombardi book. These items will be considered for revenue possibilities.
Review of our Funding Policies for Tuition Assistance was directed to the Endowment Fund. Since Penny had to leave prior to this discussion, we will inquire with Penny on the status of this fund at our next meeting. The Bleser Foundation is considering Sacred Heart School for another donation.
Committee assignments were given to Nancy and Mark. Nancy is assigned to the Personnel Committee, while Mark volunteered to join the Policy and Technology Committees.
Informational Reports:
A. Pastoral office - No report.

C. School Administrator - Total of 625 calendars had been ordered; will make an increased effort to encourage members to sell more as the year ends. D. Pastoral Council - Fred will report at the Pastoral Council meeting that we are still in need of another member to attend the Board of Total Catholic Education meetings. Building & Grounds Committee performing a walk-thru of school and parish to establish a 3-year maintenance plan. The second collection this weekend will be held to support the efforts of St. Vincent DePaul. A Time & Talent Survey was held last weekend, results are not yet available. Fish fry held in October was a little slow due to a basketball game that was also scheduled at the school on this date. Phase II will not happen immediately due to financial constraints, but still planned in the future. Concern was expressed regarding selling that had been occurring in the gathering space. Any fund-raising events should occur outside of the entrances, in the school or in the hall space between the school and gathering space.
E. Green Bay Diocesan Board of Total Catholic Education Minutes - No report.
F. Athletic Committee - No report.
G. Home and School Association - Dress code was addressed at the last meeting. Suggestion was made by an eighth grade student, that any student not dressed appropriately would be required to wear a uniform for the remainder of the day. This idea is going to be taken into consideration. A change of clothes will be given to the student to wear by the office staff. Parents will also be notified of their student dressing inappropriately. They are also going to research the cost of uniforms. Uniforms being considered would include polo shirts and slacks for boys; polo shirts/blouses and slacks/jumpers for girls. This would begin on a volunteer basis with the hope that all children would eventually consider always wearing the uniform. Kids Corner will be held Nov. 29 - 12/01. This event gives our kids a chance to buy Christmas presents for others. This event is not a fund-raiser. Catholic Schools Week is the last week in January. They are planning to schedule Mr. Billy or Randy Peterson for this week. We requested that Home and School submit a budget to the board and Parish Council that indicates their approximate needs for the school year. Beth stated that she would take care of this.
H. Committee Reports:
i. Personnel - Since evaluation process begins in January, this committee needs to meet soon to coordinate the evaluation process.
ii. Budget Proposal - No report.
iii. Policy - Meeting was held with Lois to revise Policy 3025, see discussion under Old business.
iv. Development - Plan on meeting soon to discuss ways to encourage parish participation in Generations of Faith. Jan. 9 - 14 is Vocation Awareness week. Mark suggested that Deacon Tom would be willing to assist in any way. Denise will check with Fred whether he plans on extending Christmas greetings to school and religious education staff this year.
v. Technology - Associated Bank will soon be discarding their computers. If interested, we would be considered to receive these. Mark will keep us informed.
Closing Prayer: Stewardship Prayer.
Respectfully submitted,
Cindy Swiecichowski
