Sacred Heart Parish Board of Total Catholic Education SACRED HEART PARISH Board of Total Catholic Education Meeting Minutes November 16, 2006 Meeting was called to order by Mark Fuller @ 6 p.m. Present: Mark Fuller, Lois Maczuzak, Brenda Onesti, Becky Dillenberg, Ron Henn, Tom Berg, Alex Schreiner, Fred Ponschok, Gemma Therese, and Nancy Schauer Excused: Denise Stueck, Correen Lewis and Penny Demerath Opening Prayer: Led by Mark Fuller Approval of Agenda: Schauer moved, Schreiner seconded to approve agenda. Motion carried. Approval of October 19, 2006 minutes: Schauer moved, Ponschok seconded to approve minutes. Motion carried. Approval of Financial Statements: Henn moved, Onesti seconded to approve financial statements as presented. Motion carried. Information Reports: School Administrator: Parent/teacher conferences are schedule for after school on Monday, November 20 or Tuesday morning, November 21. Discussion centered on starting a four year old program . . . what degreed person would be hired, how many hours a day, how many days, etc. No decision is made at this time, still exploring this option. The Bleser Foundation again asked for our ‘wish list’. The wish list consisted of a Youth Minister, a new updated sound system, technology, advance schooling and tuition assistance. Technology is in the process of updating their five year plan for the Federal Government. DRE: reported on catechism teachers and classes. Working with the school, visiting classes, etc. RCIA training is taking place. Participated in Youth Leadership Camp where the Youth Minister was discussed and future meetings were set. Home and School: A meeting was held on November 9 th. There main topic of discussion was safety. The school will be locked during noon recess and when no one is available at the front desk to answer incoming requests. Athletic Committee: Basketball was discussed: we have three teams of each boys and girls. Publishing for the games for parishioners to participate will be on the Church bulletin board in the Gathering space and in the bulletin. We will have cheerleaders. Pete Warmenhoven spoke in regards to communication between the Finance Council and other Boards (Groups) of Sacred Heart Parish. Someone from the Board of Education will be representing our committee at each of their Board meetings (participants will rotate). Expenses were discussed along with the deficit for year end . . . looks like the same if not worse prognosis for this coming year. Revenues were discussed (tuition needs to be taken into account) . . . enrollment continues to decline while costs continue to rise. Message sent: enrollment needs to increase and non parishioner’s tuition must match their student count that attends Sacred Heart School. Possible revenues not tapped yet are from alumni of the school. Board Committees: Personnel: No new positions open at this time. Budget: In the development state. Policy: No update Development: Setting a meeting prior to year end. Technology: Purchased a heat control unit (needs to be installed); and 5 year plan Activities: Focus w/school and catechism classes working together Old Business: Ideas are circulating for the 125 th Anniversary celebration of the school. Committee is forming. Please donate any old pictures and planning for a dinner/dance sometime in 2007. Safety: Front doors locked during lunch hour. Radio for lunch duty personnel for problems on playground. Discussed buzzer system, camera, and swipe card. Amy (Middle School Coordinator) and Vicki (Elementary Coordinator) introduced themselves to the Board. New Business: Discussion of faith formation ideas for adults, i.e. bible studies, renew-type groups, etc was tabled. Closing Prayer: was held.
