Parish Pastoral CouncilThe Parish Pastoral Council sets the direction of parish life through listening and responding to the Spirit of God, organizing lay participation and cooperation, facilitating shared practical wisdom, and doing parish planning. The pastor with the assistance of the Parish Pastoral Council determines the vision and mission of the parish. Pastoral Council Meeting April 20, 2006 Penny Demerath,, Lois, Maczuzak, Patty Rindt, Dale Vannes, Ron Henn, Randy Lorge,, Fred Ponschok, Walberto Colon, Andy Onesti, Peter Warmenhoven, Gemma Niemuth, Mark Anderson Absent: Geri VanDeLoo,, Mary Jo Ambrosius, Herb Tauchen-excused, Mary Ellen Waldvogel AGENDA (Meeting Minutes) I Opening Prayer: Dale led us in prayer. Dale approved the agenda, Andy second the motion. II Approval of the minutes: Motion made by Pete and second by Dale to accept Mary Jo’s resignation from the Pastoral Council III Discussion of the Day of Reflection: IV Task Force for School Enrollment: Review of the responses. It was asked that a tally be added to the for. The Board of Education will review and help implement some changes. Flyers were a success. V Music: Dinner of appreciation not required. A suggestion was made to have an “In house” discussion with an open forum to discuss what is working and ask for suggestions for changes that could be implemented. A “recruiting event” with an invitation for all to attend the meeting. Include the youth VI Building & Grounds: VII Financial: Final discussion of the budget for 2006-2007. Andy made a motion to accept the budget and Ron second the motion. There appears to be a deficit again this year. Father Len made an appeal at Mass. We need to have a 5 year plan. VIII Stewardship: Stewardship Fair May 6 th. & 7 th. In the gym- all groups are welcome to have a booth. We have the opportunity to do some Brat Fry(s) @ Wal-Mart, Country Store & Cecil Citgo. IX Board of Education: 125 th year of the school - celebration coming soon! Lois is working on the details. May be a Wine & Cheese tasting evening at the Mielke Theatre. Grants - always looking! Public Relations - the Iowa Basic test scores were announced in the Pulse. Honor Student article was in the local paper. Religious Ed expenses are up this year due to the fact that we are expanding the program to reach more of our children and adults. We have the possibility of adding a four year old kindergarten in 2007-2008. The gym floor will be replaced before next school year. We will be starting our own band. X Activities: We will not be doing the Packers Concession stand this year. We will be trying a new format for the picnic this year, perhaps a three day weekend full of activities for all members of the family. We are always looking for other fundraising ideas! Golf outing - looking for donations- $50.00 per hole. We have the opportunity to do some fundraising thru the internet. Mark and Pete will meet with the representative to discuss. Fish fry - looking for a new chair person(s). Seems like activities is all fundraising!? XI Liturgy &Worship: No report XII Evangelization: We may use a Consultant from the Diocese to help determine our need for a Youth Minister - we have put money into the budget for consultant fees. XIII Human Concerns: This committee would like to provide school supplies for needy children. It was mentioned that St. Martins sends 2 bags of supplies per classroom. XIV Communications: No report XV Building Project: Next meeting May 4th. Give your list of names of suggestions for replacements on the Pastoral Council to Walberto and he will work with Father Len. We are looking for replacements for Herb, Mary Jo, and Walberto. Closing Prayer -Led by Dale
