- Team reports:
- Building & Grounds : Herb said that did a walk through the complex tonight, looking for areas in need of attention. There will be a full report written after tonight’s committee meeting. They looked at the crack under the south wall were some plaster was chipping off. There is some repair needed in the lady’s restroom downstairs. There will be some problems since it is plaster up over the concrete wall. Some of the valves in the school need to be changed, one floor to be completed at a time. The tile on the wall may need to be repainted due to the wear and tear over the last six years. Windows on the north wall are leaking which will eventually need to be replaced. Pella should be contacted to see if they will stand behind the windows installed. Jim said that the warranty was expired on the windows in question. Some of the bleachers need attention due to use over the years, boards need to be replaced as well as some hardware. There was a question regarding the Center, they did not do a walk through of the Center. Over-hang on the school will be completed in April due to the weather changing before the work could be done.
- Financial : Not much changed in status from the prior months, we are short about $63,000. Expenses are under budget, but we are also under the revenues year-to-date which makes for the short-fall. We have been running into a cash-flow problem, we may need to drain the reserves that we have or take out a line of credit. A $30,000 gift was given to help with general expenses, so the line of credit will be put off for now, but the paper work will be completed in times when we may need it. Penny is confident that the parish members will be generous before the end of the year to help with the financial situation.
- Stewardshi p: Should the fair be held before or after March?? Does it matter to coincide with the National Day or the Diocesan Day?
- Evangelization : My apologies for no service Nov & Dec; Mary Jo was out of town and did not have enough volunteers to work. She will be mailing out new greeter assignments and solicit for more people to help with the coffee and rolls on the first Sunday of every month.
- Activities : Fish Fries will start up again for the second Friday in each month beginning in January. Catholic Order of Foresters will sponsor the first couple with matching funds. The holiday Packer Games will be hard to staff due to Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The Stadium is even looking for extra volunteers to work other booths for an additional $85 per person. Badgers Hockey game is scheduled for February and willing to pay extra for volunteers for that event. Please ask around for others to help staff the booth.
- Liturgy & Worship : Decorating committee has Christmas all organized and the decorating will begin after the Friday mass, December 23. Reconciliation will take place on four days next week. One extra Mass 4:30 & 7:00 on Saturday, the two on Sunday as usual. The couple of companies that publish parish directories are being looked at for comparing offerings and quality of work.
- B/T/C Education : Did not have a meeting this month. Two more students will be enrolled shortly after the holidays. The task force on enrollment have meet twice, they came up with a survey to be given to past graduates and parents of past graduates to evaluate the positive things of school and encourage them to give feed back on what would make the school better. It is taking some time to get things together, wish it could go faster. Two grants are in the process from Nickie, a Reading Literacy grant and Barbra Bush Library Grant was submitted. A Best Buy mini grant was submitted, we did not receive the Garth Brooks Grant. Jan 28, 2006 is the date for First Reconciliation; first meeting for Confirmation for the next year’s candidates will be Jan 29. RCIA has four members currently, no change.
- Communications : The Pulse went to the printer today, not mailed yet.
- Human Concerns : Did not meet this month, the Giving Tree was up last month and their were many packages placed under the tree. Pat Romuald delivered many of the presents at some of the area nursing homes today.
- Building projects : Phase II, the committee will not be meeting in Dec. due to the holidays. They will try to move Jan meeting up to the beginning of the month instead of the end of the month. They need to decide what the next strategy will be with those members who did not send back pledge cards. They also need to digest and compile the comments that were received. Hoping to break ground in April, but the parish needs $975,000, we have about a third pledged so far.
- New Business : we need to address the commitment of our members since we just about didn’t have a quorum this evening for the third meeting.
- Closing prayer : Stewardship Prayer adjourn 8:31 p.m.
Next meeting January 19, 2006
