AGENDA

I           Opening Prayer: Mary Ellen led us in prayer. Randy approved the agenda, Dale second the motion.

II          Approval of the minutes: Added Gemma to the list of those in attendance. Dale moved to approve the minutes Herb second the motion.

Mary Jo Ambrosius resigned her position on the board. A suggestion was made and discussed that a Thank You note should be sent on behalf of the Pastoral Council by the President. Thanking Mary Jo for her years of service.

III         Discussion of the Day of Reflection:   The board of Education is reviewing the need for a Youth Minister and writing a job description. The Pastoral Council will review the cost for a Youth Minster and add to next year’s budget.

IV         Task Force for School Enrollment:   Thank you to Father for his attendance at the meetings. Father’s input has been very helpful. All families received a brochure promoting the school. A notice was put in the bulletin for Catholic Schools Week. Many activities have been planned for Catholic Schools Week. An orientation has been planned for February 16 for Kindergarten and 4 th grades an invitation will be sent to Lincoln Elementary students.

V          Music:  Hiring a Liturgist may help to unify our choirs. Some discussion followed in regard to getting all the groups together. An appreciation dinner was discussed. We may need a music director to lead the groups to attract the youth of our faith community. It was suggested that the Activities Committee put on the dinner. Perhaps we could try to hire a Youth Minister/Liturgist. Dale and Andy will proceed with setting a date for the Dinner.   Some youth have been recruited as Ushers.

VI         Building & Grounds:   Walk through in December of all the buildings.

A. Church- paint the south wall in the sanctuary, replace the water softener.

B. School- replace circulating pump, replace damper for the heating system, replace the carpet in some classrooms.

A donation was received to fix the gym floor and the bleachers

C.Center- Basement tile in the meeting room, and the carpet in the north entrance was inspecte

D. Rectory- Bathroom counter top inspected

All critical repairs for last year were taken care of in 2005.

VII        Financial: We expected a short fall, but we received some “end of year donations”, one was $35,000 and   was unrestricted, several others were restricted .

Weekly donations were down, so a suggestion was made to open a line of credit.

One year line of credit for $50,000 is available. Penny has reviewed the details and suggested having the line of credit as a back up if required. Dale made a motion to open the line of credit and Herb second the motion.

Increased enrollment will help the operating budget.

VIII       Stewardship: Stewardship day will be held in March.   Tri-folds will be setup. Pastoral Council will be the first weekend and all other groups will be the second weekend.

IX         Board of Education:

Mary Ellen- First Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Eucharist dates have all been set.

Lois- 2 new students, the gym floor repaired, received three calls from the flyer, article in the Pulse about Iowa Basic scores, Public school partnership, $1,000 grant from Dollar General.

XI         Liturgy & Worship:   Decorating for Christmas went well- we had some youth participation. Taking down the decorations went well also. The next meeting will be to discuss the decorations for Lent and Easter.

XII        Evangelization:  We will need to recruit a replacement for Mary Jo Ambrosius.
