Parish Pastoral CouncilThe Parish Pastoral Council sets the direction of parish life through listening and responding to the Spirit of God, organizing lay participation and cooperation, facilitating shared practical wisdom, and doing parish planning. The pastor with the assistance of the Parish Pastoral Council determines the vision and mission of the parish. Pastoral Council Meeting January 18, 2007 Present: Lois Maczuzak, Penny Demerath, Fred Ponschok, Patty Rindt, Herb Tauchen, Gemma Niemuth, Randy Lorge, Linda Olson, Bill Erdman, Sister Gemma Therese & Father Len, Andy Onesti, Dale Vannes, & Troy Edwards Absent (Excused): Mark Anderson, Ron Henn, & Peter Warmenhoven, Agenda
II. Fred made a motion to approve the agenda and Herb second the motion – all approved Discussion of the minutes. One correction – Keeper’s Wife’s- possession on both. Bill made motion to approve and Herb 2 nd – all approved.
V. Review of the By-laws Article 6 & 7 Post the agenda and the minutes for Parish members to view. Changes to 3.a ? Discussion of 2/3’s vs. simple majority- which would be no less than 7 members present. Father Len suggested having a call in, if not enough present to conduct the meeting then reschedule. We need all members present to have a good representation of the parish. Review the remaining articles before next meeting- to be discussed. VI. Committee Updates: A. Building & Grounds - SW and NW walls are cracking and peeling cost to repair approx. $3,000.00. Water softener options for the Baptismal font – will updated report for the next meeting. B. Finance- Income YTD is $32,000 under budget. The total cost for the boiler is $7,900.00 the amount collected in the second collect for the boiler repair is $2,200.00 we will continue the second collection for special needs making all aware of the special need. A notice should be put in the bulletin about IRA contributions to charitable groups (church). C. Activities- Golf outing – looking for volunteers, Fish Fry 201 served – short 12 workers, Picnic – looking for chair person(s) for this year. D . Stewardship- Advancing the Mission E. Board of Education-Lois – Tuition collection. 4 year K has 1 student. Wed paper will have school notes from Sacred Heart about Catholic Schools Week which will include a Catholic Fair and a Science Fair. Working on the budget. Sister Gemma Therese- Catechist In-service and thank you party, High school had it’s 3 rd session. New 8 th grade Catechist teaching dating, love, and marriage. 2 nd graders are learning the 10 Commandments. Right of Welcome – we will have two new members. Forming a discussion group on Lenten activities. F. Liturgy & Worship - Christmas went well – will be discussing Lent and Easter soon. G. Evangelization- We will begin using the sign out in front of church for inspirational sayings. Setting up a schedule. H. Human Concerns- Giving tree gave to 6 families. This committee is assigned to be greeters – Hospitality Ministers - the first Sunday of the month. T shirts (used and new) for Haiti was discussed and given approval to proceed. I. Communications-Discussed the fact that this is a very important committee and should be reestablished as soon as possible. Old Business: Olan Mills- Parish Directory – dates for pictures – June 17 thru the 23 and July 16 thru the 22. Olan Mills will make the initial calls to set up the dates for all who do not have the opportunity to sign up after masses. We will take the opportunity to speak with each Parish member while they are in attendance for the pictures, about “Advancing the Mission” New Business: Forester information was handed out – scholarships are available- everyone was encouraged to join the Catholic Foresters. To be discussed is the use of the equipment in the kitchen for the Fish Fry Father Len led us in the Hail Mary as the closing prayer.
