Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council sets the direction of parish life through listening and responding to the Spirit of God, organizing lay participation and cooperation, facilitating shared practical wisdom, and doing parish planning. The pastor with the assistance of the Parish Pastoral Council determines the vision and mission of the parish.

Opening Prayer – Our Father – led by Father Len.

Approval of Agenda - Motion was made by Bill and seconded by Scott to approve the agenda.   Motion carried. Approval of Minutes - Discussion of the minutes was held.   Motion was made by Pat and seconded by Scott to approve the minutes.   Motion carried.

Committee Updates: A.  

Building & Grounds– No meeting has been held since the last Pastoral Council meeting. They are scheduled to meet on March 27, 2008 at 6:45pm.   B.  

Finance – Sharon - $52,500 deficit. Ushers handing out info this weekend- notice in the Pulse and bulletin and someone will speak at each of the masses. Sharon read the notice. C.  

Stewardship – Dave – Pat – nothing to report. D.  

Board of Total Catholic Education – Amy T. –nothing. Sister Gemma   Therese– Confirmation retreat went well. First Communion prep is ongoing. First Communion will be held on April 6 th. Vicki is working on Vacation Bible School. Amy worked with the middle school students for Living Stations. Catholic Catechism for Adults fall sessions complete. The class allowed adults to ask questions. May offer an evening class.   See report. Paula- Lois unable to attend and she thanks everyone for their prayers. Grafiti of a threatening nature was found  in the boys bathroom. Pictures have been taken, Father spoke to boys in grades 4-8. Police have been notified. Unsure if our students or others. Three new students starting after Easter. Lois has notified the staff that there will be need for cuts next year. Safety being addressed for all buildings.

  • Activities – Penny –

Vicki is back to work and doing well. She is planning a Picnic Committee meeting for early April.         Pete Demerath is working to set up the golf outing.   New options are being considered to boost participation. Tom Suttner stepped forward and wrote a great letter inviting the prior participants to this year’s outing. It will be mailed when the details are set.   Lois & Pete Maczuzak will solicit businesses that they frequent in the Shawano and Keshena area for donations/prizes.   John Gallagher will solicit many of the remaining Shawano area businesses for donations.   At the last meeting Gemma offered to make posters and flyers as soon as the specifics are know and Fr. Len offered to get them to area golf courses.  More volunteers are needed to handle the raffle, registration, etc. July 13 th       Brat stand at Pick-N-Save. 8-5 April 18 & 19 Youth Ministry will do the first one. F.   

Youth Ministry -   Amy –Met with teens for an information meeting regarding June 16-20 Reality Check for the Youth in Green Bay; hope to have 6 attendees. Recruiting more adult leaders. Once a month meetings with middle schoolers. G.   Nominations – Troy/Scott – Reviewed the list and discussed it face to face with some people. Still looking for 6 more people. Pete Maczuzak would like to be involved. Penny has a list of some that may be interested in the Board of Ed. H.   Evangelization - Continuing the sign in front of Church. I.   

Liturgy - Easter Vigil @ 7:30 p.m.; Chrism mass on Tuesday. J.   

Human Concerns – A drive for T-shirts for Haiti will be done again after Easter. K.  

Communications – Pulse deadline is April 1.

Old Business

  1. Advancing the Mission- Celebration weekend invitations sent out.

  2. St. Wenceslaus Update – No definite news yet. Determine if   ½ or 1 acre.

New Business: Ministry schedules in the bulletin are helpful. Catholic IQ in the bulletin should continue.
