Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council sets the direction of parish life through listening and responding to the Spirit of God, organizing lay participation and cooperation, facilitating shared practical wisdom, and doing parish planning. The pastor with the assistance of the Parish Pastoral Council determines the vision and mission of the parish.

       Pastoral Council Meeting Minutes

October 19, 2006

Present: Lois Maczuzak, Randy Lorge, Father Len, Penny Demerath, Mary Ellen Waldvogel, Fred Ponschok, Patty Rindt, Herb Tauchen, Peter Warmenhoven, Mark Anderson, Gemma Niemuth, Dale Vannes, Andy Onesti, Ron Henn, Linda Olson, Troy & Bill

             Mary Ellen said her farewell

           

II. Dale made a motion to approve the agenda and Pete second the motion – all in favor.

III. Discussion of the minutes. 1 correction noted under old business on page 2 should read “next” not nest as written and Gemma Niemuth should be noted as Present.

Fred made a motion to accept   and Pete second – passed.

IV. Review of the By-laws

                        Powers, Responsibilities, and scope- Article 3- no changes

                        Membership – Article 4 – Discuss if Youth member required we decided “yes”.

            We also discussed inviting Sister Gemma and Amy to join our next meeting.

            Should the wording be changed to state “simple majority” instead of 2/3 for voting members present for a quorum? If changes are made to the Constitution the changes need to be posted in church and the bulletin for two weeks, and then discussed again before the changes will be made.

                        Article 5 – to be discussed at the next meeting.

           

V. Discussed moving December meeting up to December 14 th., as to not conflict with Christmas. All other dates approved as written prior.

VI. Committee Updates:

                        A. Building & Grounds- The furnace at the center for downstairs was in need of some repairs – complete. Some new parts are required for the lawn mower- to be  purchased. Next month there will be a walk thru of all the buildings.      

                        B. Finance-  Letters were sent to each member on contributions and a presentation took place at each of the weekend masses. We are $25,000.00 behind in ordinary donations.

                        C. Activities-   Fish fry’s will be the 2 nd Friday in January, February, and March.

                        D . Stewardship- There is an online fundraiser available- to be reviewed and determined if applicable. We need to put info in the Pulse and the bulletin to recruit new members

                        E. Board of Education-City wide Halloween party this Wednesday. Four year old kindergarten may help increase enrollment- being discussed. Walk in the park discussed. Bishop Zubik will be saying Mass on October 29 th. We would like to invite all Alumni to celebrate the 125 years of having Catholic school in our parish- looking for ideas and volunteers to plan and head up the celebration – to be held prior to the end of this school year.

 

                        F. Liturgy & Worship    - 125 th Anniversary of our school- Bishop Zubik will be celebrating with us. October 21 st @ 4:30 Liturgy will be Confirmation with Bishop Banks. October 28 th & 29 th   Dr Stoughton will do a presentation at the Masses. Decorating committee for Advent and Christmas met and discussed having the crib in the gathering space again this year. The 4:300 mass on Christmas Eve will be geared toward the youth to include being involved in the service (singing).

                        G. Evangelization- No report.   Encouraging others to be good Christians was a brief explanation given of Evangelization.

                        H. Human Concerns- The giving tree will be set up in the gathering space November 9, with a small tree in the north entrance. Students will be asked to help distribute the gifts to the residents at the Nursing Homes.

                        I.   Communications-No report- Give all of your “Pulse” articles to Penny, the fall edition will be coming out soon.

Old Business:

            1. Phase II- keep notices in the pulse and the bulletin, state we are accepting donation and request that all continue to pay on their pledges.

            2. Day of Reflection- January 13 th, 2007 is a suggested date – further discussion required.

            Time 9-3:00. Discuss if a speaker is wanted.    

New Business:

            1 item to discus at the Day of Reflection is a new Parish directory, Olen Mills has approached us with some dates and promotions.

Father led us in a closing prayer.
