Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council sets the direction of parish life through listening and responding to the Spirit of God, organizing lay participation and cooperation, facilitating shared practical wisdom, and doing parish planning. The pastor with the assistance of the Parish Pastoral Council determines the vision and mission of the parish.

Pastoral Council Meeting

September 21, 2006

Present: Lois Maczuzak, Randy Lorge, Father Len, Penny Demerath, Mary Ellen Waldvogel, Fred Ponschok, Patty Rindt, Herb Tauchen, Peter Warmenhoven, Mark Anderson.

New members: Troy, Linda, & Bill.

Absent (excused): Dale Vannes, Andy Onesti, Ron Henn.

Agenda

            I.   Opening Prayer- Led by Mary Ellen.

            II. Nomination of officers; Herb made a motion to elect Randy Lorge as the Chair person

          and Fred second the motion- discussion – all in favor.

            Gemma made a motion to elect Patty Rindt as the Co-Chair person and Pete second the           motion – discussion – all in favor.

            Randy made a motion to elect Gemma as the Secretary Linda second the motion –        discussion – all in favor.

            Officers for the 2006-2007 year are as follows:

                Chair – Randy Lorge

                Co-Chair- Patty Rindt

                Secretary- Gemma Niemuth.

            III. Fred made a motion to approve the agenda and Bill second the motion – all in favor.

            IV. Discussion of the minutes.

            V. Review of the By-laws

                        Nominating Committee- Article 2 (2.02) pg.1

                        Executive – consists of President, Vice President, Secretary, Pastor & Trustees.

                        Council- To give vision to the Pastoral Staff

            VI. Reviewed the scheduled meetings.

            VII. Liaison Assignments:

                        Nominations- Troy

                        Worship- Father Len

                        Total Catholic Education – Fred & Ron

                        Human Concerns- Patty

                        Evangelization- Linda

                        Activities – Dale & Andy

                        Communications- Gemma

                        Stewardship – Mark

                        Building & Grounds- Herb & Randy

            VIII. Committee Updates:

                        A. Building & Grounds-   Discussion about a water softener for the Baptismal Font.

                        The Gym floor and the new bleachers are complete.

                        B. Finance- We ended the fiscal year in a deficit of approximately $53.000.00. A letter will be sent to each household and a reading of the report will be done in church during each mass the weekend of October 14 th & 15 th. Followed by an open meeting.

                        C. Activities-   No report

                        D . Stewardship-Time and Talent. We are focusing on getting the Youth involved.

                        E. Board of Education- Fred will give a copy of the Pastoral Council minutes to the Board of Education. Lois stated that the actual enrollment is 132 not 142 as predicted. Mary Ellen is actively looking for a Religious Ed Coordinator, 2 have been interviewed and 1 given an offer.Catechists in-service was held last night, still same positions open.

                        F. Liturgy & Worship    - 125 th Anniversary of our school- Bishop Zubik will be celebrating with us. October 21 st @ 4:30 Liturgy will be Confirmation with Bishop Banks. October 28 th & 29 th   Dr Stoughton will do a presentation at the Masses.

                        G. Evangelization-No report

                        H. Human Concerns- What do they do? Birthday cards to the Nursing Home residents, Giving tree at Christmas – gave to 4 families last year, T-shirts for Haiti.

                        I.   Communications-No report- Working on setting up a new committee.

                        New Catholic radio station in the area “WRGW” 94.5 fm, starting in 2007.

Old Business:

            1. Phase I – balance of $62,500.00

            2. Phase II- discuss nest meeting

            3. Day of Reflection- discuss at the next meeting –possible January date.

New Business:

            1. Bishops Campaign – October 17 th two meeting times 2-4pm and 6:30-8:30pm please  let Lynn at the center know which time you will be attending.

            2. “Advancing the Mission” will be held in July of 2007.

            3. Youth Ministers has be come an important topic through out the Diocese we need to set up a committee to meet with a team from the Diocese- should consist of Father, the  Business administrator, and Director of Religious Ed. Meeting set for October 26 @ 9:00am. Training will begin in 2007.

            4. A conference “How to be Married and still Engaged” to be held November 4, 2006 in Neenah at the Picard from 1-5pm.

            5. Olin Mills has given us some information for the Parish Directory, to be reviewed and discussed.

Bill made a motion to adjourn and Pete second the motion.

Father led us in prayer.

 

Next meeting to be held Thursday October 19, 2006 @ 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Center Lower Level, NW.
