Parish Pastoral CouncilThe Parish Pastoral Council sets the direction of parish life through listening and responding to the Spirit of God, organizing lay participation and cooperation, facilitating shared practical wisdom, and doing parish planning. The pastor with the assistance of the Parish Pastoral Council determines the vision and mission of the parish. A prayer meeting will be held at the high school. One more catechist is still needed. Approval of Agenda - Motion was made by Ron and seconded by Scott to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes - Discussion of the minutes was held. Motion was made by Ron and seconded by Scott to approve the minutes. Motion carried. Committee Updates: A. Building & Grounds– Jim Daniel – Rectory doors have been painted and frames clad with aluminum; Baptismal font RP valve needs to be replaced; parking lot holes need to be patched near the island; Penny is working with two vendors to obtain quotes on updating the church sound system and adding speakers to the gathering space; a wall and cabinets in the new conference room in the church basement will be built by Jake Yeager, a member of Buildings & Grounds. B. Finance – Sharon Giese – Weekly offerings are down from budget; St Anthony’s sent $10,000 toward tuition; Pick N Save is starting a brat fry stand – may do as a parish fundraiser - Bill Erdman is getting more details; four members of Finance Council are making calls for Advancing the Mission. C. Stewardship – Dave Koeller/Pat Gipp – Stewardship Fair may be in November. D. Board of Total Catholic Education – Ron Henn – Committees were organized and goals set. A safety plan for faith formation was discussed since they use the school and do not have a formal plan in place like the school does. E. Activities – Andy – No report. F. Nominations – Scott – Slow progress is being made to fill the one Pastoral Council position and the one BTCE position; 1 person interested possibly for BTCE; 1 more required for Pastoral Council. G. Liturgy & Worship – Fr. Len – Not present at this time. H. Evangelization – Linda – Not present. I. Human Concerns – Patti – Sent T-shirts to Haiti; shipping cost was donated. J. Communications – Gemma – It was discussed that the Pulse may go out in late October. Old Business: Advancing the Mission was discussed. The Council will need to organize the Thursday October 4 th @ 7:00 p.m meeting. The first newsletter will be done by the staff. We need to develop our case – up to 4 items. Day of Reflection results (Musician/Liturgist, Part time Activities Director, and maintaining Youth Ministry) was discussed as possible ATM campaign goals. Should Phase II be our fourth item? The Council decided “yes”. How should it be split? 25% for each area was decided upon. Minimum amount for our goal range was agreed upon as $845,385. All members to attend the October 4 th meeting. Patti & Gemma to take care of the refreshments. They will ask Randy to introduce the presenter. Penny will ask the consultant for a biography/introduction. New Business: Pat Gipp has volunteered to be on the Pastoral Council and help with the Stewardship Committee. Olan Mills- All pictures from the staff and groups need to be formatted; looking for a volunteer to help with getting it completed; Andy agreed to help; Denise Stueck may also want to help. Council meetings set for third Thursday – November & December may change.
