Sacred Heart Youth Ministry Planning Team Minutes

Items of Discussion:
- After time spent in shared dialog and prayer with a partner, the focus of the meeting shifted to really looking at and critiquing our current youth ministry mission statement. Mr. Mercadante facilitated this open and “frank” discussion on what we see is the mission of youth ministry at Sacred Heart Parish. Below is the revised mission statement for further prayer and reflection:
“To be a welcoming community of believers reaching out to young people, supporting one another on a journey of discipleship in Jesus Christ.”
Frank gave feedback that the substance of what we wanted was there and the statement may need some work on wording in terms of how it flows.
- Next, time was spent in reviewing a summary of the focus groups that Frank facilitated in October 2007. Please refer to the document, “Youth Ministry Program Focus Group Assessment” that was handed out at the meeting for specific themes that came from the focus groups.
- Our task now is to focus and prioritize our goal areas, based on the feedback of the focus groups and our mission statement.
- An update was given on the intercessory prayer gathering and Amy reported that this meeting went well.
- An update was given by Amy on the youth center and Amy reported that the prayer room walls were primed and that another work day will be scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007.
Future Meetings:
- Monday, Dec. 3, 2007- bring calendars so that dates can be made for meetings in the coming year. This meeting will be held at Amy’s new apartment @ 6:30 PM.
