Sacred Heart Youth Ministry Planning Team Minutes

Faith and life sharing was done in the group setting, with group members sharing their prayer intentions.

The mission statement was reviewed again and dialogue was held on some possible revisions but after group discussion, it was decided to the mission statement stands up well as written.   It can now be reviewed by others outside the planning team and Fr. Len’s feedback is important. The mission statement is again given below:

       “To be a welcoming community of believers reaching out to young people, supporting one another on a journey of discipleship in Jesus Christ.”

Next, discussion turned to deciding on the “Focus Result Areas” and the document, “Youth Ministry Program Focus Group Assessment” was used to help with this task.   Possible focus areas that were discussed include:

• Youth active praise and worship (music and liturgy)
• Involvement in service and social justice
• Building a welcoming community
• Improving family connections
• Effective communications
• Spiritual support
• Effective catechesis   (faith development)
• Evangelization

More work is needed in this area by the team.

• December 17, 2007- Christmas Party –YM TEAM   (let Amy know by Dec. 12 how many are coming)
• January 7, 2007- Planning Team Meeting
• January 21, 2007- Planning Team Meeting – Frank present
• January 26, 2007- Vital Meeting
• Feb. 18, 2007- Planning Team Meeting   (Feb. 19, 2007 if 18 th does not work)
• March 24, 2007- Planning Team Meeting
