About Our Faith

Catholics have a sacred history of worship. Worship is giving honor and praise to God . Through the sacraments and prayer, we praise, thank, adore, and petition God.
The sacraments are sacred signs that celebrate God's love for us and Jesus' presence in our lives and in the Church. There are seven sacraments. Through the sacraments, we are united with Jesus and share in God's life. sharing in God's life is called grace.
Baptism
Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation into the Church. Baptism celebrates the new Christian's sharing in Christ's life and Jesus' presence with us as our light and guide.
Eucharist
The Eucharist is a sacrament of initiation, of unity and love, in which Christ comes to us in Holy Communion. The Eucharist is a community meal in which Christ is truly present with us in a special way. He speaks to us and gives us Himself as our food for life. The Eucharist is a sacrament of unity and love.
Confirmation
Confirmation is the completion of the sacrament of initiation into the Church. Confirmation also celebrates the Christian's growing experience of the Holy Spirit. At Confirmation the Christian is called to grow in faith and to witness to Christ.
Reconciliation
Reconciliation is a sacrament of forgiveness and healing. It is a sacrament of our sorrow and God's forgiveness. the risen Christ brings us God's mercy through the Church, whom the priest represents.
Anointing of the Sick
Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing. It celebrates Christ's healing presence in our lives. Through this sacrament the risen Lord also reaches out to bring strength, healing, and forgiveness to people who are ill.
Holy Orders
Holy Orders is a sacrament of special service to the community. Bishops, priests, and deacons are ordained to preach and teach, to celebrate the sacraments, and to build up the community of Christ's Church.
Marriage
Marriage is a sacrament of lifelong love. Marriage is a sign of God's love for God's people and Christ's love for the Church. In marriage, a man and a woman promise to love one another for the rest of their lives as husband and wife.
