Sacred Heart Catholic School

Philosophy of Education
The educational mission of the church is an integrated ministry embracing three interlocking dimensions: the message revealed by God which the church proclaims; fellowship in the life of the Holy Spirit; service to the Christian community and the entire human community.
(To Teach as Jesus Did NCCB)

Sacred Heart School has, then, as its purpose to make this faith become a living, conscious and active faith through instruction. The school is concerned with the development of the entire human person with attention being given to the religious, moral, intellectual, emotional and physical development of youth.

Sacred Heart School will provide a caring and stimulating learning environment through teaching and living our Catholic Faith. We will help each student appreciate and develop their unique strengths and abilities. We will encourage them to become active, responsible, educated members of their family, parish, community and the world.

Visit our school's website at www.shcscardinals.org

At Sacred Heart School we will
1. Learn and experience that Jesus, the Son of God, lived on this earth, died for us, rose from the dead and is now present in our school, our homes, our community and our world.

2. Worship our God through the Eucharist and the other Sacraments, as well as through prayer and devotions.

3. Learn through academic excellence about the world the Father created, in order to live with others and to be productive in the areas of life to which God leads, us.

4. Prepare ourselves to be firm in our faith and to become future leaders in our church and community through living and learning in a Catholic atmosphere.

5. Respect ourselves, each other, our earth and earthly goods, for we live in the presence of the risen Son of God.

History
In 1881, the Reverend Amadeas Massochelein invited the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet to establish a mission at Sacred Heart Parish in Shawano, Wisconsin. The school opened for classes in November 8, 1881.

In 1908, a new brick school was built, it had six classrooms. The 1908 structure was razed in the summer of 1960 and construction of the present school started. The present school was completed in 1961. Sacred Heart School has undergone a refurbishing project during the summers of 1998-2000.

Sacred Heart School has an enrollment of approximately 180 students with a staff of 11 full time teachers, 1 part-time teacher, administrator, secretary, 2 cooks, 2 janitors, and a dedicated group of volunteers who tutor our youth. Sacred Heart is a Kindergarten through eighth grade school catering to the diverse cultural population of its members.

Admission Policy
Sacred Heart School is a nondiscriminatory school. All people will be treated equally. There will be no discrimination on the basis of race, sex, national origin, age (in accordance with the law), and handicapping condition (if, with reasonable accommodation on the part of the school, the handicapped person could be accommodated).

This school gives preference in admission to Catholic students who are members of the parish; secondly, to Catholic students belonging to other parishes approximately; thirdly, to people who are not Catholic.
